Long Live the (Spider) Queen!

The Spider Queen is victorious!

The heroes made a valiant last stand against Lady Eliza Farrow and her hoard of things, but were simply too tired from fighting off the other Farrows and defending Tamalir against the besieging forces. Following Lady Eliza's victory, the minions of the Spider Queen swept through the once-proud city of Tamalir laying waste to all in their path.

The Heroes Fight Back!

As Tamalir, home town to the heroes, reaches the limit of its siege the heroes and the lieutenants of the overlord begin trading blows in earnest.
In an effort to break the siege, the heroes strike out and attack Sir Alric Farrow. Unfortunately they were not prepared for the onslaught of pain brought on by the knight and only one member of the party remained to run back to Tamalir while Sir Alric continued the siege.

"Incompetent, inept, useless" -- The Overlord

At the start of the new week, Sir Alric continued to besiege the city while Lady Eliza Farrow raised a host and attempted to break the city. The heroes intercepted her in a nearby wood and fought valiantly to the last man, failing to defeat her.

"Oh dear, pathetic." -- The Overlord

Staggering back to the safety of Tamalir, the heroes are assaulted once more, this time by Lord Merric Farrow and his host of magical minions. This time, however, the heroes concentrated all their efforts on the dastardly Farrow and in short order he was defeated and slain, leaving his minions to flee in terror.

"Crap!" -- The Overlord

So the heroes survive and have reason to celebrate. But it is only a matter of time before Slaggorrath strikes again...

They Think It's All Over...

Having returned to Tamalir from the Caverns of Thuul, the heroes are thrown into a panic when they are attacked by the Slaggorrath and his spider minions, who succeed in killing three of the four heroes before fleeing back to the Spider Queen.

Realising how close the lieutenants of the Spider Queen actually are to their home town, the heroes spend a few weeks bolstering defences and training before the inevitable siege begins.

All three members of the Farrow family arrive at Tamalir together, having just razed Greyhaven, and proceed to besiege the city. The heroes, with little choice in the matter, sally forth and attack the lieutenants in a desperate bid to put a stop to the Spider Queens evil plans.

Out of Time!

The heroes faced down the crystal dragon only to be ambushed by an ever increasing swarm of enemies. Fighting their way through to the second treasure room, the heroes grabbed the second cache of gems only to be confronted by a second dragon!
With time running out, the heroes made a grab for all the treasure lying around before they were forced out of the dungeon by a gloating Overlord [Bwa ha ha - Geoff].

Here Be Dragons (and crystals)

Having reached the forth, and final, level of the Caverns of Thuul, the heroes were delighted to discover three separate chambers, the first of which revealed a large cache of poorly guarded crystals. Unfortunately, on collecting the crystals, a large crystal dragon formed in the chamber behind them and proceeded to attack!

Avoiding the dragon and investigating the second chamber, the heroes discovered another cache of valuable crystals. Having diced with death and dodged past a manticore and numerous other beasts, the heroes discovered that the magic of the cavern protected the crystals from removal while the dragon was still alive.

The heroes have now regrouped and have turned to face down the dragon in combat.

Following the best turn to hero kill ratio for level two (I managed just under one kill per turn in the end -- Geoff). The heroes have made their way to the penultimate level of the Caverns of Thuul.

Another week's Descent session went well. The heroes have completed their first dungeon and earned their rumour reward in the process.

However, the overlord grows stronger and his lieutenants are on the move once more.
